21 September 2024. Completing the circuit of the Isle of Sheppey, this the rather more deserted Southern side (albeit with industrial plants looming on the opposite bank of the Swale). From sunrise in Leysdown, round Shellness and into the marshes of the Isle of Harty. Past the remnants of where the ferry once crossed the Swale, and into the Elmley nature reserve – an impressive example of how private farming and nature conservation can successfully combine. Finally once again reaching the Kingsferry crossing of the Swale, and a return to the mainland. 18 miles.
