Back to Swale station, and the Kingsferry crossing, one final time, this time to continue along the southern banks of the Swale, looking back across the water to the Isle of Sheppey. In contrast to the deserted feeling on the other shore, here passing the smoke-billowing industry of Sittingbourne, both new and remnants of the historic. Before then back to lonely marshes and creeks, to eventually reach Faversham – home to what claims to be Britain’s oldest brewery (Shepherd Neame). 19 miles.
