27th March 2023. A day skirting the Orwell estuary. Crossing the Orwell Bridge, with its heavy stream of lorries heading for the Felixstowe docks and its disturbing signs from the The Samaritans highlighting the height above the Black Ooze below. Finally reaching Felixstowe itself, from the massive container port, to its holiday promenade, to the Landguard headland – apparently a rare habitat of vegetated shingle, and natural and military coastal defences, populated by a large colony of rabbits, utterly unconcerned by the humans passing by. 24 miles.
