British Coast – Stage 028 – Southwold to Hopton

11th September 2023. A final stretch of Suffolk coast, travelled so much faster than all those estuaries and creeks in Essex. Today from the old world charm of Southwold, through the prize-winning beach and millennial decay of Lowestoft (once an important fishing port, now no more), to the Norfolk border at Hopton. Along the way, passing rapidly receding sandstone cliffs, long stretches of sandy beach, much of it deserted, and the easternmost point of the British coast at Lowestoft Ness. 20 miles.
